I guess I don't really have much choice except pay the money then. I don't want to rely on the can of gloop.

Thank you for your help, much appreciated.

Whilst it may not fit brilliantly well into the well, and I expect that the lower floor will be raised I intend to get a full sized spare for my car by doing the following. I intend to get a set of winter tyres on spare rims and to use one of those as a spare when not fitted and one of the normal rims in winter.

Just to update this, I ended up buying a OEM spare with the jack, polystyrene etc. It was expensive but it fitted perfectly.

Good to hear. It's a good job it wasn't an R Design as it would have been even more expensive (another £200 for the Flexible Load Floor!). Out of interest, is there any chance you can take a picture of the front side of the wheel so I can see what the offset of the mounting face is like?

I have a full size spare- it just fits nicely in the boot.
Tools from MGZS work perfectly and polystyrene tool tray fits in wheel to keep things tidy.

Yes thanks, much appreciated. You can see how different it is to the Astra wheel you tried. The 'flat face' of the centre (particularly in the third picture) is is what makes it unique to the V40, which is unfortunate when you want to buy one.

Speak to these guys.

They're very helpful. It sounds like your boot is the same as mine, ie will take the cheaper conversion kit. I picked up an as new Volvo spare with the jack etc for £90 on ebay.

Best of luck

Garage
I have a R with the official spare, insert and additional floor and think it is great.

It is so well designed, I can have the foldable floor folded up and it gives me some extra space, shopping bag holders and scoops for stuff.

With the hard folding floor flat, it gives a solid higher floor for easy storage and loading.
Additionally with the back seats down and boot floor folded down, it gives a massive solid flat loading/sleeping area.

I'll try and get some pictures if anyone is interested.
