Passenger footwell carpet in front of massive lead?

Hi. Just picked up a t2 r design nav plus tonight. 66 plate, brand new. Loving it but curious about a few things. In the passenger front footwell, to the left where you would put your left foot, the carpet is sort of floating it the middle of nowhere and there is a massive lead and connector behind it preventing the carpet from being pushed back any further. It just doesn't look and feel right. Is this correct?

It's like the lead is out of place and it is stopping the carpet from been further back. Is everyone else's like this?

Garage
Just went out to take a look at my 2016 R-design and the carpet fits snug in the foot well right up under the dash with no leads showing or felt under the carpet.

Looks like a bit of a poor finish if I'm being honest.

Go back to your dealer and ask them to tidy things up.

There are a bunch of connectors behind the carpet at the base of the A pillar as it's the main interconnect point between the dashboard and body wiring harnesses. They should all be clipped into a plastic holder with a hinged cover on ti though, not floating about randomly like that.

Take it back and get them to tidy it up.

I phoned the dealer today and they want me to take it back so they can resolve the problem and flatten the carpet back to where it should be.

Maybe try to get a photo of what the footwell "should" look like so they don't try to fob you off.

I'm sure the dealers will have a V40 or 2 lying round the showroom to have a look at

Current car
Rebel Blue V40 D2 RDesign Lux
Previous
C30 1.6 drivE RDesign
Ford Probe 2.5 v6 (218bhp) fast, but fuel consumption was horrific
Fiat X1/9 amazing fun, steered on rails, frightened 911's up to 50mph
And a few others that were much more boring
