TFT Display Eco

Changed the display to ECO today and I noticed after a while, a lower case"e" appeared on the eco side. Can't seem to find what it means.
Does anyone know?

It's the indication that you are driving at what it thinks is optimum fuel economy (the Mk3 Focus Econetic does the same thing with the same 'e' symbol). See this promotional video for the V40:

Congratulations Trebor1960!! Your V40 is telling you that you are driving "Efficiently" with regard to fuel use
I wont be holding my breath waiting to see it in my display though, particularly as it's permanently in performance mode!!

Well well, I didnt know we had an indicator telling us how we were driving !

I just thought changing the display did just that , change the display.

Gotta give this a go to see if I can actually get my driving a bit more wallet friendly.

it's not bad - to a limited degree it adjusts to the nature of your driving so it is possible to be driving somewhere other than a motoroway/flowing a-road and still achieve the 'e'

If you have adaptive cruise the other thing that the eco theme does (and I think elegance does as well) is put a marker on the speedo of the speed of the car in-front if you are catching it and then a white bar around the speedo from your current speed to the speed the cruise is set at.

Its a bit of a game really, and even fun for a while, trying to get that E on the dash...

So I assumed the 3 setting options we have, eco, elegance and performance were just display settings but obviously not?

No, they are just different display skins. Changing the skin makes no difference to the car's performance. The only thing that does change the performance is the 'Eco' button on cars with automatic transmissions.

There is a slight change in the available indicators/gauges though

In Eco mode you get the eco gauge
In Performance mode you get the power meter thinghy on the right, temp on the left and a big rev counter+ speedo in the middle. I always use Performance, cause thats the only way my old eyes can read the speedo....
In Elegance mode, should ask my wife, thats what she uses

If not mistaken those modes are connected to the key you use (at least when you have memory seats I guess)

Indeed they are anixie...
Very handy as my better half prefers elegance as well along with sitting bolt upright & about an inch from the steering wheel
I'd need either a tyre iron or an oversize shoehorn just to get into my own car if not for the brilliant memory keyfobs
