Ive just got hold of a V40 and struggling to identify parts, I know I need a knock sensor but when i look online there are a whole list even when narrowed down to year.
If there a way of identifying which to purchase or even better can i get hold of a electronic parts book. I presume if i opened bonnet and located the sensor it may have a parts number on it but there are other items in the future i will need just to tidy the car up so a parts bok would be ideal

Any help would be appreciated.

VIDA has parts diagrams and numbers, but the last version available to us, 2014D, is quite old now and you run the risk that the quoted numbers might have been superseded. (If you see a later version of VIDA offered for sale, such as 2015A, it is just 2014D renamed by unscrupulous sellers). You can enter your VIN on Skandix website and they will show parts compatible with your car, along with Volvo parts numbers. Other then that, the best source of a correct part number is a Volvo dealer with access to the current online VIDA.
