I picked up my V40 on Monday.

It looks fantastic - the combination of Vibrant Copper and the charcoal interior really works well. I'll post some photos over the weekend.

I haven't had chance for a proper drive yet - just toodling around, but the handling feels really solid and the cabin feels so well designed and uncluttered. The feeling of driving an (almost) unique car amongst all the boring ordinary Audis, BMWs etc is just great.

My main challenge is figuring out all the configurable settings. It's like being given a brand new smartphone when you've been using a 15 year old Nokia.:D

Anyway I'm off to read some more of the manual...

Congrats mike, it's a great feeling! And yes it is unique, I'm really surprised I still haven't passed another V40 on the road yet or pulled up next to another one at the lights. I got well excited on saturday when driving by regent's park I saw a V40 in Caspian blue parked at the side of the road!:D Then I noticed it was actually parked outside a little Volvo dealership on the Euston road :-/. It will happen one day... hey and it might end up being someone on the forum, that would be weird.
These things do happen I once put a piano on ebay, the winning bidder turned out to be my new next door neighbour... what are the chances of that?

Ok , I finally got a sunny day when I had time for some photos ...

This one shows off the day time running lights quite well.

I went for the premium sound system. You can see one of the additional speakers on top of the dash. Anybody recognise the song?

Here you can see why I think a charcoal interior works best with Vibrant Copper.

Finally just a couple more views in it's matching autumn setting ...

Looks amazing. I really like the colour!

What wheels are those? Did you sample the speaker system before you ordered?

Thanks!

The wheels are the standard 16" Matres.
And no, I didn't get the chance to compare the audio options.
I wanted the 7" display screen for easier usability and decided to go the whole hog with the premium sound.

My impression so far is that the sound quality is excellent, but with reduced benefit once you get to higher speeds with more road/engine noise.

Feel the envy!!! My Vibrant Copper D2 SE lux, ordered in August, due 2 weeks ago but is now due December. I've been told it's because there is a shortage of D2 engines, but not seen that mentioned anywhere else.........

Congratulations, it looks fabulous in that colour!!

I have still seen only 1 V40 on the road so far so I think you will have that exclusivity for some time yet.

Just cant wait to get mine, only 4 weeks and counting..................[hr]

Mike, we have the same alloys. Have you noticed that Volvo have fitted the weights on the outside?
I've asked my dealer about it as surely it risks damage to the lacquer when the tyres are replaced and new weights are fitted.

I haven't noticed them - I've just zoomed in a couple of my pics and cannot see any weights. I'll have a better look later today.

Just checked and my wheels appear to be weight-free.

Hi Mike,

I quite fancied the big sound system and would have ordered it, but when I had the demo car I was that impressed by the 8 speaker system I decided that would be enough. It really is excellent. I have to have an ES Nav (it's a company car) so the 7" screen comes as part of the Nav. I really liked the display on the demo car and think it's worth having.

I will also be having those wheels. I think they look great on yours! A dream to clean as opposed to the multi-spoke affairs on my current car!

Delivery is estimated on December 12, but as with everything, I want it now! ;o)

Well I got my car on the 12th, and it has 16" Matres alloys complete with weights crimped to the outside of the rims.

I hate them. I've not had a car with these for over 10 years!

Come on Volvo, sort it out!

That's a nice car!... I'm glad you posted your pictures because I was looking for photos of this color on the internet and they are so hard to find. I thought this color would look more like orange, but it seems to look quite well on vibrant copper..... not like raw copper were it looks more like brown.

Thanks!

"One man's raw copper is another man's beige" as someone probably once said.

Although personally I think colour and wheels are the most subjective options on a car.[hr]
