I am absolutely gutted ,went to pick up my new R Design V40 today only to find the dealership had ordered the wrong spec, No winter pack fitted so they have had to re-order another vehicle to the correct spec, now got to wait until mid March already been waiting since the beginning of November, I am so disappointed

That's appalling. Haven't they given you a loan car until yours arrives, or at least a hefty discount?
OMG I'd be more than gutted!

Imafudd has the right idea... Demand a courtesy car until yours arrives... Their incompetency is not your fault. Why should you be without a vehicle? Either that or, if they have no courtesy car, ask if they can either provide a hire car (at their expense) or give a huge discount.

Another 3 months wait is not acceptable - make it clear it's going to cause you personal loss as you have no other transport. Now they've left you without an expected vehicle.
 Name and shame the dealer..........
Sorry to hear Dave. I agree with the others, a courtesy car should be provided
Let's just hope that when the car does arrive it doesn't have any of the problems and defects experienced by other members. Fingers crossed.

It wouldn't be fair to besmirch the whole of the dealership. It was probably just a slip-up on the part of the individual salesperson. These things happen sometimes. All the other departments and employees may be of the highest calibre. HOMETUNEDAVE may want to go back there in the future (for warranty work or servicing etc.) so it wouldn't be a good idea for him to get himself a bad name by going for a gloves-off battle right at the outset.

Kind of agree with Yellow belly it was was just a mistake made by the person making the order, they just missed one of the extras on the list(I did have eight).
As for a courtesy car I still have the Audi A8 which I am trading in against the V40 so don't really need a courtesy car.
I suggested to the salesman they give me the three year service plan that I want to take out and he seemed to think that would be agreed although he would have to get that confirmed on Monday when the sales manager is back and they are going to ring me on Monday.
I am extremely disappointed to not have my V40 yet but it was a genuine mistake (we all make mistakes) and nothing I do will make the vehicle turn up any sooner, so I will just have to be patient and wait until March, and maybe when I speak to the salesman on Monday they may offer more I will have to see.
Date.
Sorry to hear your troubles. Good to see your approach too, mistakes do happen indeed. We all make them. Hope you get the servicing plan mind you.

Well it will be a 14 plate so that is better (not a fan of these 2nd half of the year numbers) and it will look like a brand new car for longer.

I had an issue back in 04 when the dealer forgot to order our lasses Civic Type R, it was me that found out when I ws pushing for a reg number the month it was due to be delivered, having gone ot Honda as the dealer were taking to long, I found out it had not been ordered, I told the dealer who was shoked they just thought it was an issue with the system.

Anyway I had already sold our lasses existing car, so they had to lend me one form the original delivery date until it arrived.

Remember I was ordering a brand new Civic Type R 200 bhp hot hatch etc....they lent me a used old shap Nissan Micra.

When my car was about to be delivered I asked them for a substantial sum of money due to the loss of use, they initially referred me to the T&C's on the order saying they were not liable for any delays, I referred them to the unfair contract terms act, they then said I could not have any loss of use as they lent me a car, I pointed out that cars to me are not just a means of getting from A to B and what shows, meets, runs I would have gone on, I some more extras for free (equivalent to a four figure sum), which was great as I had already got the car for well under cost price to start with.

As has been said these things happen, but what I would say to the dealer is that they should agree to cover any mechanical failure on your existing car if it ocurres (assuming it is out of warranty) as if you had the new car as agreed you would not have had to carry that potential liability/risk

Gutted

There are supposed to be double checks involved so more then one person made a mistake sorry for your pain I know how you feel .
It's a harsh world...I can remember when my boss sent me the delivery note for mine and despite my request for a Lux Nav...your common or garden r-design was on it's way according to the paperwork...thank god time to intercept it, but there must be the odd slip up! Darren
