An enhanced fan function that means that the fan starts when the car is opened with the remote control key. The fan fills the passenger compartment with fresh air. The function starts when required and is dis-engaged automatically after a time or when one of the passenger compartment doors is opened. The amount of time the fan runs is reduced gradually due to reduced need up until the car is 4 years old.

Nope. Not happened for me so far and i have a dark grey car which gets a lot of heat build up when left in the sun. Maybe a feature on higher spec models?

I can't say I have ever noticed this either. I guess that does not mean that it's not happened though.

they are in the manual so I suppose they must be an option.

It wasn't available when I ordered mine and I still can't find any mention of it on the Volvo's UK site.

That happens almost every time I open the car. I basically drive my car only weekends.

I noticed a few times where the fan will spin for a while when I unlock the door with the remote however it doesn't exhibit the same behaviour if pull the door handle (open via keyless entry)

I don't believe that fan feature is optional though
