Just got asked in a different topic about the issues with the approach lightning.
As there are probably more people with the issue I thought it would be useful to just start a new topic.

Basically the problem is that when the car is "cold" (nothing to do with outside temperature but with the state of electronics (standby mode you could say)) and you enable the approach lightning using the button on the key, the approach lightning switches on and immediately off again. f you try again it works as expected.

If you try this with a car that has been opened or has recently ran it will all be good...

I hope this explains it a bit....
It seems to be a software bug and. In my case the dealer has reported it to Volvo Netherlands

I mentioned it to my dealer. He just responded by saying that you can adjust the time the approach lights stay on through the 'My V40' menu. I'm guessing he hasn't checked himself.

And last time I checked 0,5 seconds was not an option :)

If interested what it looks like:

Quality not the best as uploading on iPhone over 3G... But if you turn sound up you will hear the click for the remote and see the light flash briefly...

Thanks for the video Patrick. Now I understand.
