Likely to be the slave cylinder in the gearbox bellhousing. The return spring trick is a temporary "cure" that dealer techs like to employ as it's a major dismantling job to change the slave cylinder and they probably hope it will last until out of warranty when they can at least make a profit out of fixing it properly :(
