I am not getting the MPG they say .. but was putting it down to the 19" rims as I did read reports they say that does not help

I have a auto but not getting the 60+ they say.

not had to long and only 6K on the clocks so will wait till summer to see what its like as winter used to take a few MPG away from my old car.

It's not really possible to achieve the official mpg figures in real life driving. The official figures are only really useful for comparison against other vehicles and many car ads now say this in the small print.

I get around 50 mpg in my D4 auto and I am happy with that. It is possible to do better but it's not as much fun :)

ColinN;165834I do feel that now (around 9500 miles) the mpg is falling off a little said:
My understanding of the EGR situation is that it is purely emissions-related and shouldn't effect MPG; I didn't notice any reduction in MPG prior to my EGR issue which occurred at 9200 miles.

I spoke with my dealer on the EGR issue; they said Volvo had fitted data loggers to a number of cars under the dealership's care, all of which had needed multiple EGR valves replacing :frown2:, but as yet there was no permanent fix.

Your dealer's response is what I would expect at this stage - positive but non-commital. 'What happens re EGR problems after Warranty expiry?' is a bridge that Volvo has yet to cross and they seem to be actively working on a solution. If it came to it I would expect Volvo to sort the problem on a goodwill basis - they could suffer reputational damage if they didn't.

JB1001,

The fuel economy numbers claimed by Volvo and other manufacturers are, to all intents and purposes, unachievable (some have come close though) and there is usually small print to say that the numbers are only really valid for comparison purposes.

A 'real world' 42-50mpg seems about right for the D4.
