Hi all.

I am Lars from Denmark and have so far enjoyed reading all your threads, but finally I can also now say: "I am waiting for my new V40" :)

As a current VW Golf VI company car owner/driver, car change is due for December, and two months ago, I would probably have chosen the Golf VII, if prices had been available. BUT, then Volvo launched the V40 in Denmark on Sep. 1st. at very competitve prices, also on taxation. After a few test drives and lots of Googling and dealer drive by's, there was no doubt. The car was ordered on the 5th of October, and delivery will be between 3rd and 10th of December. I certainly hope for the 3rd!!! :)

Specs are as follows:

- V40 D2 Kinetic VBL (Volvo Business Line) - Equipment somewhere between ES and SE in the UK
- VBL version comes with the 7" screen/ High Performance System (no multimedia though)
Additionals:
- Biarritz Blue (I was also considering the Caspian Blue)
- 17" Segomo alloys (Silver Bright). Original 16" on winter tyres. Will have to get it delivered with the 17" at least to drive it a few days before swapping to the 16" :)
- Detachable towbar
- Shimmer Graphite Aluminium trim
- Adjustable arm rest
- Double load floor

So now it is only a matter of lots of patience, which I do not have :)

Cheers.
/Lars

Welcome Lars and congratulations on placing the order.

As someone who has also decided to move to a Volvo from another Marque - all i can say is you won't regret the decision on the V40. Everyday i drive it, i enjoy it more and more.

I know the new Golf is a very good car, but let's face it - it does look rather boring and is a little predictable. :p

Greetings Lars and welcome to the forum. Believe me when I say that I know exactly what are going to go through waiting for the car to arrive.
But try not to think about it and hopefully time will fly by. I found that pulling the fur out of a stuffed toy helped :)

Hi Lars and welcome to the forum, I also chose Biarritz Blue it's a great colour, I am jealous of your Segomo wheels though, I went for Mannan but the Segomo look more sporty.

Incidentally WhatCar's Chas Hallett said this about the V40 vs the new Golf..

'I'm also a fan of the look and feel of the cabin. It's terrifically made. In fact I went to look at the new Golf in Berlin last week and the Volvo seems several levels up on the plushness scale.'

You've made a great choice...

Thanks for all your comments :)

Waiting time makes you build up expectations, but as you all say, it is probably worth the wait. The only thing I could worry about would be the engine size. I drive a 2.0 140 hp TDI and I could obviously clearly feel the difference. However, the budget was not for more than the D2, so I trust that I will get used to the smaller engine quite rapidly.

Welcome and nice choice!! V40 is so beautiful compare to the Golf VII!! More original, and you won't have the car that everybody has!

Welcome ! V40 will fulfill your choise for sure. Compare the torque of your previous 140 hp engine to the 270 Nm of D2, I am quite sure it is inferior. The car goes like a dream, its lines are as though coming out of a dream, and its quality is superb. Be patient and you will be rewarded.
To be honest, I did not have to wait long as I bought one of the exhibition cars (that had quite all the characteristics I required). But now, time is well beyond the probable delivery date, If I had to wait, and it passed like water under a bridge. :)

Hi to all in this great V40 forum,

Like Lars (also from Denmark) and I am also waiting for my new V40 to arrive which I have been doing for 7 weeks now (feels like 2 years). The feeling is like being a 10 year old boy looking at all the Christmas Presents well knowing I need to wait a few more days before opening them :)
Arrival date should be first week of December. I noticed a few days ago that my V40 has been build and ready to ship out from factory. Perhaps I should take the train to Belgium and pick it up myself :)
Anyway because of the high tax in DK my V40 ended up like this :
- D2 Kinetic, Caspian Blue
- 17" Mannan rims for summer
- 16" Matres for winter time
- 7" high performance audio
- Char/char/Blond interior, Linne T-TEC
- TFT driver display

I will post a few pictures once I receive my new car.

Best regards from Denmark,
René

I was just informed today that my has been built, but will not make it on the ferry to Denmark which only leaves Belgium once a week!! It was supposed to hit Denmark next week, but will now be a week delayed. How annoying is that?? They promised to carry out the local work as quick as they could, which I really appreciate. As you say René, it is already unbearable to wait for the car...

Yes it seems that the ferry with cars for DK market only leaves Belgium on saturday each week. And I have been informed my V40 should be on the ferry this saturday (I really really hope). But when I check online my V40 was already built tuesday last week so by some strange reason my car seems to wait almost 2 weeks in Belgium before shipping ?! It sounds a little crazy. Does anyone know if this is normal procedure ??

It seems like the tracking site is not too reliable. The building status was on for like 10 days, which it would not take to actually build it as far as I am concerned. And while it was still at that stage, I got the mentioned message from Volvo that the car was finished a few days before. And as with your case, it has been waiting for around 10 days now! So it seems like our cars will be on the same ferry. Do you know if they will be unloading in Esbjerg?

Well I am not quite sure about the actual route. But I think it will go directly from Gent to Gothenburg because when using Google I found this :
http://freight.dfdsseaways.com/DFDS_ferries/North_Sea_ferries/Gothenburg_Ghent_ferries/

So I think our cars will have to visit Sweden first :(
