Depends on driving style, length of journey, speed, terrain... Also if it's new it will get better as time goes on.

Is there an 1.9 l diesel engine on V40s?

D3 and D4 are 1984cc. My D3 is averaging 48.5mpg over the first 2000 miles

I know about the 1984 cc. This is considered a 2.0 litre. There were older diesel engines at 1.9 litre.[hr]
My V40 D2, after 4400 kms, is showing 5.4 lt/100 kms, which equals 52.31 mpg. Mostly urban areas. Strange that consumption goes up instead of down, it started at less than 5.0 lt/100 kms (4.8) and it goes up as kms accumulate !
