Greetings. I recently purchased a V40 Cross Country D4 early 2016 (without the Thor headlights). When the gas tank contails a respectable ammount of diesel fuel i can hear it sloshing, vividly so.
Having never owned a Volvo, or a diesel powered vehicle at that, I was wondering if this is normal or something is wrong with my reservoir's structural integrity. Thank you for giving me the time of the day.

I only had the D2, but I doubt the tanks are dissimilar. I never heard the fuel sloshing around in the tank.

Sorry I can't help more.
You have been plenty helpfull. Im trying to figure out if this merits a visit to the ole doc earlier than i am supposed to. Every bit of information helps. Thank you for your quick reply.

some cars have an access panel under the rear seat for the fuel sender assembly, it's possible this is loose/missing/not fitted correctly? theres a release tab on the edges of the seat base to press in

This sounds like something I could manage to check out if it is not too complex. Thank you for your thorough information! Have a good one!

This may not be of any help but i had something similar on one of my vans and on a mates car.
Basically the sill drains were blocked, again this may not be relevant to Volvos but if you feel along the bottom length of the sills you might just find bulges which have holes (possibly 3or4 each side) that are blocked and need poking out with the end of a 'plastic' tie wrap.
The amount of water that came out was unbelievable but it cured the sloshing sounds.
Good luck.
Though unlikely as it may seem I ought to give it a look. Thank you for your input and haver a great day
