Cool! I would like to visit the factory in Ghent, do they run tours often? I have driven past there several times on my way to Leuven visiting the Stella Artois brewery. A few years ago I had a tour of the mini factory in Oxford, it was fascinating.

Going to see how my V40 was build in Gent Belgium.. 
With the dutch (www.volvo-forum.nl) volvoforum we are going to visit the factory again. Was place for 30 people and already fullybooked..
Been there before a couple of times and got the see how my C30 was build and now again I get the chance to see how my V40 was build.
Looking forward to that.. Going tuesday 9 Oktober..

Only for groups I believe. Next tour will be in 2013 I believe at least that's what I heard on the dutch volvo-forum
Perhaps we could organize a group from the uk forum too then? Even for us in Uk it's not far, from recollection about 1.5hrs from the French side of the Eurotunnel, return on the same day would be quite cheap.

Lots of V40's on the line..
But did not spot a R-Design or a V40 CC (cross country). That's how they name it so no XV40 yet.
They also told us today in the factory that the curtain falls for the C30..

Makes me not want to get rid of my c30 :-(
I will visit Bruxelles in January for my business, and asked Volvo if I can visit the Gent factory individually.
They said they only accept group of 10 persons or more.
Does anyone go to there on Jan 8?

This is an interesting post because in October, I drove through Ghent and at one point, there were 5 V40's abreast and I felt quite "cool" with the only R-design...got back to Blighty, didn't see one for days and days!
Aside from a one day UK meet, I think this is maybe worthy of a new post and to realistically get a group of us over there and a fantastic day trip and (perhaps) meet up with out Dutch friends in the new year.
I'd really like to see this happen and as they say on Dragon's Den..."for that reason, I'm in"...there must be a dozen of us surely for day in the new year? Darren

It says individual visit is not (YET) possible.
I hope in the near future, we can visit there as just as an owner.

looks to be a fairly modest £20 for the visit, so bearing in mind a channel crossing, fuel and lunch...probably a £150 day trip. I think it'd be a great crack for 15 UK V40's rocking up in Gent!
