I just bought a 2019 V40 inscription, great car. I normally just leave the car with the AC on in auto climate mode. I notice the A/C is making a strange hissing / sloshing sound. This sound appears to be coming from behind the dash (drivers side) RHD. Hard to tell if the AC is working due to the cold weather. Is this normal?

I had driven 3 V40 of 3 different model years and they all made that sound. My main dealer says it's perfectly normal and coming from a badly designed tubing of the cooling pipes between the engine and passenger compartment. For me it always sounded like hullu said: time for a refill! But haven't tested it yet as the A/C runs perfectly fine winter and summer..

As noted in another thread there's an update with improved insulation to mitigate.

A similar situation happened to me a few months ago. I had to watch a strange sound come out of my air conditioner for weeks, and I decided to get it diagnosed. I thought it was a serious breakdown and would require repairs that would cost me a lot of money. When I went to the professionals, they fixed the problem in half an hour, and now it's not a big deal. I was able to get my air conditioner back in one piece and completely healthy. I think for you this advice might be an effective method as well.
