Just out of intrest could anyone with a D2 please tell my how many rpm the engine is doing at 70mph

I got the gear ratios from this https://www.media.volvocars.com/global/enhanced/en-gb/models/2013/v40/model/specifications.aspx
and I then used this to calculate the information you require. http://www.car-videos.net/tools/spe...io7=&Redline=5000&Increment=50&B1=Recalculate

From that I get the engine speed at 70mph in 6th to be 2050 RPM.

(I assumed the tyres are the standard fitment 205/55 R16)

The 2050 RPM I quoted was an approximate figure. If you interpolate in the above table, you get a closer result of 2041 RPM. If, however, you use this http://www.club80-90syncro.co.uk/Syncro_website/TechnicalPages/TRC%20calculator.htm to get the dynamic rolling radius of 307 mm, in conjunction with the gear ratios, the speed is 2028 RPM.

I'm going to switch off my pocket calculator now because it's beginning to overheat!
