I have a my2017 V40 T3 right hand drive in the UK. Really lovely car but bought with the knowledge that it had a front repair outside of the Volvo system. I had it serviced by the Volvo agent who passed the mechanical repair that had been done but wouldn't warranty either the Pedestrian Protection system or the Adaptive Cruise control. Both these functions show dash messages.
I have read on various forums that the separate Pedestrian Protection System ECU needs to be 'cleared' - the agent just wants to replace it at huge expense. I see that specialists offer to clear this ECU for about £60 - but is it that simple? and if it is that simple where is this ECU located in a RHD vehicle?
Next item is the Adaptive Cruise Control - again the agent has checked out the camera, the calibration etc and wants to swop out the radar unit itself for lots of money! However if I select this function soon after starting the car it works just fine, but 5 minutes later it stops working and a service message appears. Surely if the radar unit was faulty it wouldn't work at all?
If anyone has had the same experience or can throw light on the above I would appreciate it very much.
Cheers
