Hi folks, So we started out about 4 weeks ago with a really nice standard V40 T2 R design 2018 with just 18000 miles on the clock and one previous owner. Since then; Re mapped, upgrades to intercooler, fly wheel, valves and injectors. In addition, some paint work. As a middle age 55 year old guy I'm treating this as a bit of hobby car not wanting it to look like a "boy racer" car. But!!!!! I can't stop thinking about an exhaust upgrade now. I suppose it's a bit like getting a tattoo, once you start you can't stop lol. Any advice on a suitable exhaust system that doesn't make the car sound ridiculous? Something effective but subtle is what I am looking for.

Hello mate, I got the tail pipes power coated gloss black, still the original ones. I am looking to upgrade the whole exhaust system soon, but unsure at this stage what to go for? I am trying to keep all mods made to the car very subtle. I'm wanting an exhaust that when driving normally just "purrs" but when driving a little harder sounds nice. Can you give me any advice. I really don't want anything crazy 🙂

Hi mate looking awesome already! i noticed your rear diffuer section where it would normally be silver, did you paint or wrap that black? i got a rebel blue r design and looking at working my way to make most if not all of the chrome/metal colour exterior parts black 😃

Hi there, I thought of wrapping the rear defuser but finally decided on paint. I'm gonna wrap the chrome windows/doors and front grill trim though.

Ah awesome! when you go about the trim wrap could you post how you went about it, I’m planning on doing the same but was looking at taking the window trim off the car first but haven’t really seen anybody do it this way. 😄

Why did you change the flyweel, valves and injectors? (im very curious)
I did not see anyone yet why replace those on a V40, what was the result?
And then remapped and now you want an exhaust upgrade. Sounds like you need to remap again then...
Btw that engine can do over 200bhp with only remap,The turbo is the bottleneck.

Regarding the exhaust, I have a polestar exhaust (T4 MY2017) it gives a nice sound and diameter is a little bigger then stock (2.25 > 2.5 inch) and much better airflow (no middle box dont know the exact word for it:unsure:)

Fly wheel upgrade and intercooler upgraded more than anything as a precaution has after stage 1 remap car measured 238 bhp on rolling road test. Larger valves/ injectors fitted since have enhanced performance further. Only problem being massive torque increase could be a problem for existing clutch. It's the first time I have gone beyond stage 1 tunning so taking advice from a mechanic friend of mine. Custom filters and exhaust system coming soon. Followed by a performance remap any Dyno.

Sorry I was a little busy and didn't have time really to explain properly why I have engine mods done.
So the upgrades to intercooler, fly wheel, cam, and injectors are all really precautions to promote the re mapping, also I hope the longevity. Clutch is next, not sure it is necessary but I don't want to take any chances. As far as the exhaust is concerned I am looking for something subtle, but enhances the tone of the engine.
I totally understand what you are saying about the Turbo, although I just can't understand why anyone would want to take a front wheel drive above 300bhp? Pretty pointless in
my opinion. I use the car on a daily basis and I am certainly not looking to turn it into a "little boy racer". Neither am I trying to put together a track car. I don't know for sure what this car is delivering now, first rolling road test was 238bhp, probably put a few more horses on since then. Torque is tremendous and is wonderful, hence the forthcoming clutch upgrade. That's then the car finished. Will end with a professional paint job detail and ceramic coating.

It's staying white mate, a little bit of correction, deep cleaned, clay bar etc.... and if I still have any cash remaining, a ceramic coating.
Oh right haha. I didn't the "Detail" part! I think this car looks amazing in white! Going to wrap mine in white aswel in a few months! Not sure if I should go gloss or satin finish.
