I'm thinking of getting my d3 remapped but wondering about the insurance. Anyone got any information about how the prices changed and if I should go with a different insurance company?

I’m with Aviva plus - remapping my 5 cylinder D3 with polestar, my premiums went up 10%.

Not bad for a good power increase - 150hp to 177hp and 350nm to 400nm.

I've seen with a stage two you can get to about 215hp so I'd like to go with that but I need to find out much my insurance will go up. I read that specialist insurance companies are the best bet.

If you have an automatic there is usually a torque limit rating for the box.

Mine is rated to 440nm so I went with the lower tune at 400.

Some people do seem to have gone way above toque limits and I haven’t heard of issues so far.

I'm with Aviva Plus as well but only had a Polestar update and on a petrol model so not a massive increase.
As it was under 10% peak upgrade there was no premium increase at all.

Ah right, I've got the manual. Will the torque rating be 440nm aswell?
I couldn’t find anything online - it appears it might be a M66 gearbox.

Torque limits are likely to be the clutch limit with a manual.

Upgraded clutches might be available.

be very careful with insurance... if using comparison sites, even if you tick "modified, engine tune" by the time you purchase the policy the website often returns to the providers default "assumptions" and the tune is no longer declared.
