Have asked Polestar if they are going to do the D2 modification.
But they have no plans for that..

So if you want you're D2 tuned you have to go to Rica they do the D2.

Not sure if I will do it in a later stage.. First I want my V40.. :)

Most tuners have something already for the common engines.

I beleive Rica, BSR, fast tech and MTE have something.

I am going to have the guys at MTE do some tweaking on my T4 (which I hope to drive next week)

Rica do the D2 indeed, just not now already. They're still working on it. I find that a bit odd, I was thinking this should be the same D2 engine as in the S60/V60, no?
I know mine is a company car, so I'm not sure yet about doing it or not, but I drive a chipped car now too, and that never failed to put a smile on my face when I step on it :)
If the power is going to be in the same region as for the S60/V60 (141 bhp), I might have a really hard time arguing with myself :)

I sent an e-mail to RICA, asking why the tuning for the D2 still isn't available. All I got is they're working on it. After that, I sent an e-mail to the Swedish department of RICA asking the same thing. They told me that the D2 is exactly the same as the D2 in the S40, S60, V50, V60, C30,... and can be tuned to 141 hp without any problem.
I don't really get it. Does anybody know more on the subject?

Factory warranty no longer valid.
There are plenty of dealers however that take the warranty risk when they tune the car.
But officially no longer a problem for Volvo but for the dealer...
So as long as you visit your regular dealer that did the tuning you should be ok..

Indeed they do :)
I wonder how it'll ride, that's more torque then a D3! (also, isn't it a bit too much for the gearbox?)

Good morning to all Volvo friends !
Living in Greece, waiting my new V40 D2 to arrive.

Lookong for chip tunning, I read that for RICA tuning I have to
remove the ECU and send to them for decoding ! :s

http://www.rica.nl/nieuws.php?news=49

I found also some tuning boxxes easyer to install, like this one

http://www.tmcmotorsport.com/TuningBoxDetails.aspx?s=500922695
(137 hp , 320 torque)
or this one
http://www.bluesparkautomotive.com/diesel-tuning-boxes/3377-Volvo-C30-D2

which is cheaper, it has easy installation, and it is removable !!

What do you think about all that ?

I have no tunning experiance before,

and I care more about the engine health than the max power.

thanks,
Theodore

Bad news for BSR funs !!!
:mad: Volvo.. :thumbdown::thumbdown:

I asked BSR why They don't have produced a D2 tunning
(I love BSR) and they directed me to the following link:

http://en.bsr.se/about/volvo-pin
wow! thanks for sharing.. i'm sure if we obtain a pin code, Volvo is going to note that down and any access to the ecm will void the warranty?

When tuning the engine warranty always will be terminated..
There are tuners that take over the warranty.

Only if you do a Official Polestar tune that the warranty will continue.
But Polestar will not tune the D2 I already informed to that.

hi, do you know why?

did they give you the reason?

you are lucky,
at Netherland you have (at least) RICA.
141hp not bad.

Hello everybody!
I live in France and I bought 4 month ago the new V40 (D3).
I drove about 4000km.
I have question which I can't have the answer:
If I upgrade my V40 with Rica (for exemple) and I remove it just before my firft oil change, does my Volvo garage manager can see if I changed the V40 programm?
I heard differents opinions about that and I'd like to know the truth!
Obviously, it's about the Volvo warranty I'm afraid to loose it...
Thanks for your answer

They will be able to see if they plug it in the the VIDA as this will give a history etc. I would have a word with your dealer before getting the tune as some are kind of ok with it....just ask, the worst they'll say is no. Good luck!

Thanks for your answer.
If I understand, there is a memory which record all the operations made on the motor!
I'm very surprise...but it's possible.
I heard Volvo could see if there is not the original program. But if they can see a program has been installed and revoved, they are champions! Then, it's impossible to do anything during the warranty.
