Hi, I’ve managed to bag myself a bargain. A 2013 2.0 V40 DB SE LUX NAV 150.
It’s in perfect condition inside and out and drives like a dream.
My question to you guys is , I’ve notice one or two roads missing from the satnav. Is it possible to update the maps and if yes how would I go about it please. TIA.

Morning, yes you should be able to update, free updates are available for life, the next edition will be out spring next year so in the meantime you can download this year's offering. Simply follow the instructions on the link and be patient. Best to use a 32GB thumb drive preferably a Sandisk, using anything else with a larger size seems to run into problems but have found this size and brand to do the job nicely.

Once it's done the thmb drive pops it into the slot in the arm rest turn on the system and it will asked you if you want to update? This process can take an hour or more where the system has to be powered on, if it turns off or gets turned off it will simply resume where it was when it turned off so you want have to do it again. Again be patient.

Let us know how it goes.

Jason

Note there are 2 different versions of satnav in the V40 - Sensus Navigation 2011 and Sensus Navigation 2014.

I too have a 2013 V40 and mine uses the '2011' version - no 'globe' button on the centre stack. The '2011' version needs an update to be made to the software by a Volvo dealer to enable updates via USB. The current versions of software for the 2011 system is V30.20.03 and it is available here: Link to Sensus 2011 maps. This version of software was published 03/12/2020 and "There are no more map updates planned for this system."

I think that might be the original version of the software. A Volvo dealer should be able to tell you if the software update allowing updates via USB has been applied to your car if you contact them. My records show that in 2016, the software update itself cost me £14, but with £57 labour charged to apply it.

Hi
Followed your instructions which were great thanks. Got as far as installation and it asked me for a Licence Code. Looks like I’ll have to enquire from a dealer how much for the code?

I've been interested in doing the update (mine is the early 2014 model, without the globe logo on the dash) but have been put off by some stories of the ECU being bricked when the dealership attempts to prepare the base software for updating. A finger in the air figure seems to be about 50% success rate, and therefore 50% brick rate.
Further, as has already been said, Volvo have stated there won't be any more updates to these age maps.
In all honesty, it just isn't that important for me and I just use google maps on my phone for navigation.

I've not had any issues with updates that I download from Volvo maps or dealership updating software.
My system has the globe logo though.
It says on the Volvo map site that the latest version for my type is 32319055 and the next update is early 2022, so hopefully there will still be free map updates for the foreseeable future ?

UPDATE:
Called into a Volvo dealer in Warrington. They want £120 to install the software with the warning that it could brick my infotainment centre 🤬🤬
Not sure it’s worth the hassle or the price.

That was my thought process. My own decision was that it wasn't. The SatNav directions were never that good in any case, although tons better than the Garmin standalone GPS I once bought.
