Hi all,

I own V40 D2 1.6 engine, MY2015, that means 6 years old. It has very low mileage, 35k km, and since last maintenance (oil change) I made only 3k km, mainly city ride. As next maintenance is due this month, I wonder do I really have to change oil after only 3k km? Also, air and cabin filters were changed 2 years ago, approx. 9k km ago. What's your opinion? Until now I've been changing oil every year, and filters (cabin/air) every two years (last air and cabin filters were almost without any dirt). I did oil filter once, 3 years ago.

Br,

If it's mostly city work I would change the oil every year, low miles city driving is not the best for the engine, especially a diesel.

Oil changes are required by time, mileage or engine operating hours, whichever occurs first. Since you've reached the time limit before the mileage limit, an oil change is still required on the elapsed time basis.

If it wasn't, the service reminder indicator would only work on a mileage basis 😉

What else should I look for on this mileage/age, except oil and filters (air, cabin)? Besides reagular oil and filters change, I had once fuel filter change, brake pads and battery.
