The second day after picking up my V40 from the dealer I pressed the start button and nothing happened, kept trying and nothing left it for a couple of minutes and it started, took it straight back to the dealer who told me they would have to keep the car to try to find the problem. Next day they told me tjhe car was ready and the fault was a glich in the software, since then everything seems ok

Same happened to me in January ...twice! First they said it was software but it happened again after a week and it turned out to be a loosely connected control module. My car was built may 2012 so may have been one of the first off the production line. It has functioned fine since then.
