Apologies if this is already available, but I couldn't seem to find any details/opinions about the V40 that were a little more in-depth I guess.

I am currently eyeing up a 2017 V40 T3 2.0 manual R-design Nav Plus:sneaky:. That's a mouthful.

I've never owned a Volvo before so any help or opinions to following would be super helpful to me:
  • How's do the manual boxes on these?
  • Any issues mechanically with the 2.0 petrol? From what I could find, it seems like a pretty solid lump. Clutch slave cylinder issue seems to be a recurring thing I see. I guess once replaced it is fine or did it only affect specific years?
  • The 0-60 is around 8 seconds l, which seems pretty nippy. Does it feel eager to drive?
  • How's the air conditioning/heating performance?
Any other general ownership views are welcome too.

I had a 2018 T3 manual for 2 years. No issues under my ownership - just routine servicing. The Volvo specialist I took it to wasn't aware of any particular common issues with that engine when I asked them.

To me it drives like a diesel. I don't mean that to sound too negative but it feels fairly strong between 1.5k revs to 4k and then seems to drop off after that. It also sounds pretty gruff! Generally it drove pretty well though. MPG was generally somewhere in the 40s depending on roads and driving style.
