Volvo's first all-electric vehicle, and, apparently, the first of a line of such vehicles. I admire Volvo's determination, but can't help wondering whether, given the current state of electric technology, it's premature. For the Company's sake, I hope not.

As an aside, I was reading in 20 Minuten (local free newspaper) this morning how concerned breakdown companies were at having to pick up electric cars, frightened that they'd catch fire. There was even talk that they'd need completely enclosed vehicles for safety reasons.

Plus the whole thing about it being £50K, almost twice the price of a regular XC40.
And the elephant in the room with electric vehicles is insurance costs....

The expected £50k price tag is probably the kicker (although the XC40 plug in hybrid is not far from that)
I haven't insured a fully electric car yet, but our Outlander PHEV is cheaper to insure than the iX35 it replaced.
