I have a V40 Cross Country D2 with 115k mileage .My car still has the original timing belt / water pump so long overdue replacement. I’ve been quoted £780 . I’m undecided whether to keep the car … but obviously any new buyer would be put off by this . I’m interested in possible value of the car with / without replacement . It’s very tidy and runs well on my motorway commute everyday. Any comments welcome .

Slightly off topic, but relevant to values...you may be surprised about the value if you decide to trade it in.

My 1st V40 got traded in because Volvo UK couldnt offer a fix for continued failing clutch/flywheels (quote: the issue affects a very small number of now obsolete vehicles, there's no further technical modification or development )
Knowing this, the dealer selling me V40 No.2 suggested a local trader would buy it, and repair it out of network and so I expected to be kicked in the teeth with the value... NOT THE CASE. They gave me well into "book" value, and then sold it to an unsuspecting buyer the same week under the Selekt used car program.

I was talking about this last week, I've had mine now for 18 months and I don't think it's lost any value at all, if anything it may give me more money if I traded it in than I paid for it.

Won't be trading it, it's a good car so it's worth more to me than risk buying a bucket of nails.

I upped the value on my 2017MY T2 when I renewed the insurance a few months ago. A check on current values indicated that it is worth around £1K more than I paid for it as a 1 month old dealer pre-reg. But with still ongoing production issues, delays and cancellations on new car orders, I think similar increases in value apply to any car, not just the V40.
