Trim removal

V40 2015 D4 SE Lux Nav - having an issue fitting a boot 12V socket kit - can't get the large rear plastic panel in the boot to unclip. The instructions make it look easy but I can't get it to shift. I've tried using a trim tool kit but no joy, none of the clips will release. Other panels OK.... Any advice please?

Cheers

Hi, had mine off fitting towbar's. Very, very tightly clipped in, but will (once the screws are out from the bottom lip) just come upwards. I learnt from car no 1 where I used a large prybar to wear some builders gloves and gave car no2 a swift sharp upwards pull
Dont try a bar or driver under the edge, it simply distorts the trim...
If you're using the factory loom behind the panel dont forget the fuse under the drivers seat
OK cool thanks. There's not a great deal to get hold of but I have some nice armoured biker's gloves to protect my dainty sausage fingers....
I have a fuse handy.

OK, so I got all the panels out, including the soundproofing. The instructions show a module (towhitch?) that the socket harness connects to, but I can't find it. There's nothing remotely like the Volvo diagram....
The kit harness also seems to be a connector short - the instructions show one to connect to a free one in the car, one for the 12V socket, one for the mystery module and one for the module cable to connect to. Only two on my harness, excluding the one for the socket and a fuse holder..
The car doesn't have a towbar if that helps...
If I recall its a pair of quite thick wires going to a plug, imagine where the access flap is cut for the rear light bulbs its not far from there, its taped up with the loom that runs down before going across the boot floor
Ignore the missing module as you have no towbar, the kit might provide a spur to continue to a module...
After a bit of thought and checking I worked out no towbar, therefore no module. Found the connector (where you said), fitted it all together (with fuse 26 - I used a 20A as it was handy and don't need a 40A for no towbar). All works fine and is useful permanent live. As you thought the other connector on the kit loom is spare, presumably for the module. Thanks for your help!

Cheers

Awesome! Glad it went well for you, remember it's not ign switched :)
Very happy it's not ignition controlled, much more useful...
