I don't know if somebody raised this topic before, I couldn't find anything by searching, sorry if this has already been discussed.

Has anybody checked the accuracy of the trip computer? I filled up from empty to brim for the first time today. The trip computer was showing 4.6 l/km / 61 mpg, and the brim-to-brim method gives me 5.1 l/km / 55 mpg. I know trip computers are not atomic clocks, but isn't 10% difference as bit too much?

Thoughts?

On my Mazda 3, the distance to empty always showed 585km when I filled up. Once you started driving, in town, then it came down, and was pretty accurate. Always got around 400-420km on 45 liters of fuel.

On the Volvo, every time I fill up, it gives me a different reading. If I just drove in town, it will give me 565km left to go, town plus longer distance, 685km. Fuel light comes on after I have done 400km town driving, and then I push it up to 450km, then fill up, and it takes around 53 liters to fill the tank.
