Hi

I have got Pirelli tyres on my V40 D2 Se Lux but sometimes think the grip is not all it could be, particualry in the wet.

Has anyone else found this??

If you tell us which size and variant of Pirelli (205/55 R16? Cinturato P1, P7 etc) then possibly we can find out what the general opinion is, not just on V40s.

See "Tyre details" and "Test results" for the following:
http://www.pirelli.com/tyre/gb/en/car/sheet/cinturato_p1.tab?tab=7
http://www.pirelli.com/tyre/gb/en/car/sheet/cinturato_p7.html
Pirelli rate the wet performance of the P7 higher than that of the P1.
User general ratings (see Product Sheet) are 5 stars for the P7 and 3 stars for the P1.

I have the same problem I was on the motorway just the other day and the abs light flickered on because I lost traction the car feels like it is on ice when the roads are wet.

I changed my tyres in October from summer tyres to winter tyres. The extra grip nearly caught me out the first few journeys I took as I was used to the way the summer tyres under-steered slightly where the new tyres had much more grip and I found I was over-steering.

Michelin Cross-Climate cover all the options really well.

I got these Riken Snow (Winter Tyre) Tyres at Blackcircles.com.

Mainly because I was really impressed with the performance of their summer tyres.

I stumbled on the brand as they were the only ones in stock at the tyre place when I had a blow out of one of the original tyres. I noticed the road noise was much quieter than the OEM tyres fitted by Volvo so replaced all of them with the Riken summer tyres.

The winter tyres have been good so far, but the big test is tomorrow as I know I have some snow to drive through.

Another vote for the Michelin cross climates.

I have them on my D3 polestar.

They disperse huge amounts of water in the wet on the motorway- you have a giant spray behind you!
