hey Mates

I'm just wondering have you had a horn failure?
Fuse OK
horn works (if I connected directly to the battery)
I didn't disassembled the steering wheel....
and I think shouldn't cause of airbag...

my question is any relay connected there to the horn?
if yes Which one?

any ideas to repair it?

thanks a bunch

Fuse Number 20 in the Engine Compartment is the fuse (Assume from your post you have checked that).

Relay Number 2 is the Horn relay.. Take it out, give it a good smack, put it back and give it a go.

Swap relay 2 with the same from another area, R11 is the same and give that a go.

They can be bought from Halfords for about £8, or cheaper online.

Not sure if this wiring diagram helps.

Be aware they dropped the two tone horn sometime in the cars lifecycle to save costs, but some cars still have the wiring in.

the answer above shows the wiring diagram of a 2012+ V40, not a 1997 model - there will be some differences.

HI

many thanks for your effort.
I solved this issue, just went to drive and a little bit later (I used the steering wheeel.... :) )
the horn came back. so it looks, the connection was corroded in the steering wheel (oh yes, I have drove 200 miles only in the last year)

That's quite common on the V70, my father's horn got stuck on so called the RAC and they stripped the steering wheel down and cleaned the connectors and put it back together all has been well since and that was 4 years ago.
