Yey! My new V40 arrived this morning! along with a courtesy car from BMW while my 1 series is in for a service. Both have only done 40 miles on the clock!!

Having both sat on my drive, I have to say I'm very glad I chose the V40, the interior of the V40 is so lovely, the leather is very good, it feels like a very nice place to be vs the BMW. Secondly I'm not sure what they have done to the steering of the new BMW 1 series but it feels numb, my drive home from the dealer lacked the sparkle of my old 1 series. And finally they tell you the new 1 series is prettier in the flesh... I have to disagree it's ugly from what ever angle.

Spec for my V40 is D2 ES with leather, driver display and 17" Mannan alloys. So this is missing the SE chrome trim in and out. other than that there's not a lot of difference.

Has anyone noticed the trip stats?? ooohhh stats....

Very nice, looks like the same spec as the one I took out the other day. The D2 is quite pokey for a 1.6 and great around town too.

Anyway, congrats and keep us posted on how it goes.

Thanks guys!
Have had a chance to drive it properly now, it's brilliant, ride is a little firmer with the 17" wheels but it's still considerably softer than the 1 series. Couple of interesting things, the Biarritz Blue is more grey than I'd imagined, that's ok though, this is the first time I've seen it for real.
Also I didn't spec the frameless rear view mirror but it appears to have come as standard.

I know! 1 series is really ugly isn't it, thankfully I've got to return it to the dealership now. I don't think I could bring my self to look it in the face every morning as I leave for the office!!

Still ugliness doesn't put people off from printing rave reviews through....

Congrats mate - Try not to smile too broadly when you hand the keys back for the BMW.
Totally disagree with the review in AutoExpress. They must be getting backhanders from ze Germans :)

Very nice - Enjoy!

With regards the rear view mirror - i thought frameless was always standard, but you could spec upgrade to auto-dimming? But I may be wrong.

Thank you all!
@MichelR Your wishing me 'safe and fun miles', I was wondering with all these new V40s on the road who's going to have the first pedestrian airbag deployment... it's got to happen sometime!

And when it happens that lucky (?!?) pedestrian will get up and thank the driver for buying a V40 :)

Let's hope we never find out :)
That is a really nice looking car! I ordered Caspian Blue (company car and my boss wants to put publicity on the back and sides of the car unfortunatly) but I would have prefered to have Biaritz Blue too :)

Great car, I have ordered an almost identical one in terms of engine, colour and wheels (have gone for black interior due to the nature of my work but prefer the blonde leather!); looking at it side by side with the 1 Series confirms that I made the right decision with the V40!!

Hopefully only 3 weeks to go now....................not that I'm counting;)
