Yey! My new V40 arrived this morning! along with a courtesy car from BMW while my 1 series is in for a service. Both have only done 40 miles on the clock!!
Having both sat on my drive, I have to say I'm very glad I chose the V40, the interior of the V40 is so lovely, the leather is very good, it feels like a very nice place to be vs the BMW. Secondly I'm not sure what they have done to the steering of the new BMW 1 series but it feels numb, my drive home from the dealer lacked the sparkle of my old 1 series. And finally they tell you the new 1 series is prettier in the flesh... I have to disagree it's ugly from what ever angle.
Spec for my V40 is D2 ES with leather, driver display and 17" Mannan alloys. So this is missing the SE chrome trim in and out. other than that there's not a lot of difference.
Has anyone noticed the trip stats?? ooohhh stats....
Thanks guys!
Have had a chance to drive it properly now, it's brilliant, ride is a little firmer with the 17" wheels but it's still considerably softer than the 1 series. Couple of interesting things, the Biarritz Blue is more grey than I'd imagined, that's ok though, this is the first time I've seen it for real.
Also I didn't spec the frameless rear view mirror but it appears to have come as standard.
I know! 1 series is really ugly isn't it, thankfully I've got to return it to the dealership now. I don't think I could bring my self to look it in the face every morning as I leave for the office!!
Still ugliness doesn't put people off from printing rave reviews through....
Congrats mate - Try not to smile too broadly when you hand the keys back for the BMW.
Totally disagree with the review in AutoExpress. They must be getting backhanders from ze Germans
Thank you all!
@MichelR Your wishing me 'safe and fun miles', I was wondering with all these new V40s on the road who's going to have the first pedestrian airbag deployment... it's got to happen sometime!
Let's hope we never find out
That is a really nice looking car! I ordered Caspian Blue (company car and my boss wants to put publicity on the back and sides of the car unfortunatly) but I would have prefered to have Biaritz Blue too
Nice! 2 weeks to go and i have mine. Can't wait!
In Ostend (belgium) somebody drives the same v40.
Hope mine arives on date because my mini was involved in a carcrash 2days ago
Enjoy your car
Great car, I have ordered an almost identical one in terms of engine, colour and wheels (have gone for black interior due to the nature of my work but prefer the blonde leather!); looking at it side by side with the 1 Series confirms that I made the right decision with the V40!!
Hopefully only 3 weeks to go now....................not that I'm counting
Hi 🙋 my name is Cee I'm from the UK England Nottingham.
I've had my v40 for just over two weeks, I came from a Volvo c30 which I loved so much I couldn't sell and now my other half he has it.
The v40 compared to the c30 in one word...epic. I miss the uniqueness of the c30 they weren't so common...
My new S60 T5 Inscription Plus which joins my wife's V40 Inscription in our yard. Sorry for imposing it on the V40 forum but thought regulars might be interested to see it. Colour is Pebble Grey? Go figure that !
Just been informed that my Selekt warranty doesn’t cover oil leaks. So much for that peace of mind Volvo tries to sell you when buying used from one of their own dealers.
Recently picked up my first ever Volvo.
A gorgeous (at least I think so) V40 D2 2.0 Inscription from 2016.
Brings a smile to my face every time I see her
