The new Park Assist Pilot makes parallel parking easy and precise by taking over and operating the steering wheel while the driver handles the gearbox and controls the car's speed. The parking manoeuvre is based on front, rear and side-facing ultrasonic sensors.

hi - did anyone spec this option? is this the same system from Ford? gimmick or god-send for the those who can't park?

I did not opt for the auto-park feature, but I did choose the park-camera on the rear, and that's worth all the cost for me.
I live in the city, where parking space is narrow, and the camera really makes it a lot more easy to get into a tight space, than I would assume without.

I have this spec on my car. Installed 'cause the women of the family insisted on it. It parks the car precisely, requiring 20 cm on both ends (totally 40 cm). I do not know if it is the same as in Fords. Disadvantage: you have to cruise at no more than 30 kms/hour in order for the system to work, that is to scan for places, which means that on narrow roads, traffic congestion is unavoidable. It also can not scan both sides of the road at the same time. Otherwise, it is safe.
Finally : More like a gimmick!

@raytint - my women of the family insisted it as well!! can this work on perpendicular parking?? or only on parallel parks?

@jens-peter- does the rear camera come with the front park assist (apparently some optical parking aid) or is that a separate spec?

Thanks!

Parallel only, and I agree that it is more of a show off ! I used it four or five times up to now, only to impress friends !

No, I think that is an additional extra you have to choose - I don't have that.
