Hi all. Wondering if anybody could enlighten me on an issue that I have with my car. About 6 months ago, I was driving on the motorway. All of a sudden and without warning, the car started running "very lumpy", lost power and DSTC Temporarily Disabled warning light came on. The TAC attended and the diagnostic identifed a fault on number 1 fuel injector. I had to have the car recovered and it took a week to get it home (different story!). Anyway, when the car got home it was running fine. I put it into a garage for a check for good measure but they said the injector was running fine. I have since driven the car for 6 months without issue until yesterday when the same thing happened again. Is it possible that an injector can fail but then work fine for 6 months only to fail again or is there some other possible cause of the problem? Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue as I don't want to go to the expense of having a new injector fitted only to have the problem arise again. I don't have the greatest of faith in my local Volvo dealer. Thanks all!

Hi, one problem in my opinion, a scan at the roadside might have pulled up a historic code not relating to the actual fault causing the breakdown. So, as you're bang on with the lack of trust with the dealer (backed up by inept UK customer service) I personally would recommend finding a local independent Volvo garage to run a diagnosis. A "diesel specialist" as a next best option, as these engines are found in Ford, Peugeots, Citroens, Mini and more... it should be easy to get someone to check it properly. Remember most Volvo specialist's will have the same diag tooling as the dealer, which on these cars is almost vital for accurate diagnosis. Keep us posted
