Saw this review this morning. nice to see the V40 beat the golf bluemotion but not sure why the BMW got 5 stars vs the Volvo 4 stars.

Can understand them testing against the Golf though. Basic Golf Bluemotion is £20k so it's more expensive than V40 D2 ES @£19.7k, the Golf doesn't come with audio/phone controls on steering wheel, front arm rest, electric windows in the rear, city safety, pedestrian airbag, no where to plug in your iphone (deal breaker!), no bluetooth... list of stuff that's missing vs V40 is endless! And the Golf does 74.3mpg (99g/km Co2) vs V40 78.5mpg (94g/km Co2)... so the V40 should win hands down.mrlazy said:

I read that article too, and wondered about the Golf. Did not know the pricing issue, then it makes sense. But, why did they not have the Alfa Guilietta as one of the rivals? That was high on my whish-list, before deciding on the Volvo.

Extremely glowing review of the V40 from the Telegraph newspaper yesterday, here's just a snippet
'It’s quite an achievement to enter into a style war with Audi’s A3 and BMW’s 1-series and make those fancypants creations look as if they ought to slink home and reconsider their wardrobe. It’s an even more considerable achievement to match or beat those highly refined cars in pretty much every dynamic department too.'
makes you feel like the wait is worth it!
