Wheel and Tyre size guidelines

Very slightly off topic, but when I bought my car, a D4 R-Design Pro I was a bit concerned that the new tyres that had just been fitted might be Chinese, which I refuse to drive on. Also they were 225/40ZR18, a bit low for my liking, given I only live a couple of miles from the border into Herefordshire and its legendary potholes. The tyres are Riken All Season, which are a fairly reputable Japanese brand, just not very well known here. In fairness, I have to say that I’m pretty impressed after a couple of weeks (including plenty of of mud and a few cattle grids). I think I’ll be keeping them on.

You can usually tell when a Scandinavian has winter tyres on because they're usually on steel wheels. I recommend an IOS app called Wheelfitment which cross references all sizes of wheel by make and PCD. It's easy to identify which vehicles have the same size rims. In the case of the V40, there's a wide choice of Fords, which makes breakers yard searches' more fruitful.
