Oil level / dipstick / D3

Thought I'd start a new thread on this.....

So after 5 years I discover my 2012 D3 doesn't have a dipstick. I knew it had the oil level option in the menus.

So completely coincidentally, after having a good look under the bonnet yesterday including removing the foam engine cover, this morning I get a message oil level low fill up 0.5 litre. First time in 5 years I have seen this or needed to top up. Weird. I didn't actually do anything to the engine just looked. Didn't even undo the filler cap.

Anyway I have chucked 0.5l of oil in, and no more warning.

But the oil level option in the menu is greyed out and unselectable. This is with the car running or stationary with the engine off. Any ideas how I actually check the oil level?

thanks

Couldn't agree more hullu.

I did the ignition II thing and it showed the Engine Oil level as OK in the middle.

This can't tell me the condition of the oil or if an oil change was actually done during a service.
