Hello all

just spoken with my local main dealer about having the software update installed to allow me to update my own maps via USB.

now this is an official Volvo update with a part number etc but have just been told that sometimes this update can go wrong and totally knacker the infotainment system and that this would cost over a thousand pounds to replace. I was told that if I go ahead with this official update and it does go wrong volvo will not be liable for anything !!!

is this right ???

surely if this is something Volvo are selling then they must be responsible if it goes wrong ????

Thanks for the reply

note that the V40 isn’t listed on the bulletin

I appreciate that there may be issues when updating any software …. What I find hard to accept is that this is an official update which they want to charge me £140 for ….. but if it breaks they are not responsible and I have to pay £1000 +. That can’t be right

it would obviously be in Volvos interest for all these updates to fail !!! Good business that !!!!

Thanks again for the reply

yes I appreciate that I may only get 1 update and probably won’t take the risk

my issue is more that Volvo will be happy to take my ÂŁ140 for an upgrade the still advertise but refuse to take any responsibility if it fails and destroys an expensive piece of equipment in the process.
