Two days ago the Check engine light came on while driving. I took the car to the local Volvo dealer - (the light went off on the way but I took the car to be checked anyway). Now...the dealer was quick to say that the EGR valve would need replacement, along with some hoses if the warning comes on again. They quoted me 1650 EUR...Mind blowing...Just as quick they offered to write to Volvo HQ...get some sort of discount and do the job for half price. This whole situation sounds fishy to me...I have seen this tactic used before so many times...and not just by unscrupulous garages...
Now - did anyone have to change the EGR valve + associated hoses? What is the cost of the parts (without labor)?
I did a quick search online and there are more stories than I would like to see on this topic. Did Volvo acknowledge the issue? Was there a recall on it?
The car is a V40 CC D4, MY2014 (the 190 HP engine) and not covered by warranty anymore...:crying:
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
