Hi all, any advice on wheel refurbishment? I've got some minor blemishes that unfortunately stand out like a sore thumb! They're diamond cut 18s and have been quoted over £400 so far! A little more than the £50 per wheel I was expecting. Am in the Herts area but would be willing to travel. Thanks

Shame your not closer to Swansea, theres a chap who repaired a diamond cut wheel for me from my previous RCZ for £25, done a cracking job.
3 years after having the repair done it still didnt show any signs of being repaired.

As a tip, I always add a bit of wax to the diamond cut on my alloys to try and hold back pitting from salt and brake dust, and I never ever use that corrosive alloy wheel cleaner that you spray on and wash off.

It looks as though this guy has moved to different premises, he originally had a small place in Fforestfach Swansea, working on his own, but that was a few years ago.

I found this site who are using the same name, APS, so I'm guessing this is him and he's expanded, and looking at some of the photos in his gallery the old lock ups in the background do look familiar to his old premises ?

They supposedly give cars a more 'upmarket' look. Essentially it's all down to appearance. I agree somewhat that diamond cut alloys do look very good but as has been proven are not very durable. I've noticed some pitting on mine and just keeping an eye on them now for corrosion. When they need reparing/replacing I'll likely get them powder coated as it's cheaper and usually has a better lifespan.

Thats exactly what it is, they are "diamond cut" on a turning lathe.

The rim is put onto a lathe and is then cut back with a diamond tip.
After all the cutting is finished the wheel will be polished cleaned and sealed.

As for the marketing side of things, well its just how most alloys are finished these days to give a more modern look.
